Getting ready for the trip south

This female Ruby throated Hummingbird was eating all of the nectar it could in the last few weeks of August.

American Robin

We had a winter storm today which meant that I of course would be out hiking in it. Apparently the animals did not get the memo that I would be there today so I saw practically nothing. However I did find a tree full of Robins munching away on these Berries.

Eye contact

I found this young red tail hawk hunting on a small marshy area in a local park. I tried my best to get close to him without disturbing him but the dried leaves made it impossible. As you can tell from the expression on his face I was not sneaking up on him at all.
